Metric Imperial
I’m looking for implementable ways to make the metric system more human-friendly in the ways that the Imperial system is currently.
I think if you built on your concept of associating similar easily divisible lengths or volumes with Imperial units - perhaps calling them by similar names? - it would have the desired effect.
For example: a metric inch could be measured as 2.4 centimeters....

Typography find - Woodtyper
Found this cool site with nothing but woodtype posters and the like: woodtyper.com
I’m a sucker for good inspiration on print design, and this site is better than most.
This just makes me happy. :) →

‘I went out to drink whiskey with my punk friend Sally in order to hear about her date with the Dinner Pro. We sat at the bar next to these older Irish ladies with huge hair who looked like they were waiting for someone. Hazard, assuming it ever comes out ;) is my kind of game - abstract puzzles wrapped in a pretty construct. Rather like Myst or Riven, in that the puzzles seem to exist for no reason other than themselves. But I do my best puzzle-solving work when the way to the answer lies in abstract or physical reasoning, versus word or number puzzles. If you like the same kinds of puzzles I do, give this a...

My grandpa gave me words to describe why I do what I do:
“Any work you can do that makes someone’s life truly better, work that really improves them and their situation, that is work worth doing.”
He worked for Michigan Timber and Truss for over 35 years, and before that had his own construction company. I can understand where he’s coming from, given that he devoted his...
iPad Isn't for Me
Apple did not make the iPad for me. The iPad is not a replacement for laptops by any means, and people who claim otherwise are just those suckers who will add gravy to Apple’s bottom line.
No, Apple made the iPad for people who do nothing more than casual computing. By that I mean, they check Facebook a lot, they write the occasional two-finger-pecked email, they watch a lot of...
The Value of Ugly
I like ugly things.
Of course, I enjoy pretty things too. But ugly things hold a special place in my heart.
I like ugly things because they have to stand on their own to prove their value. They have to succeed in spite of a minor handicap, you might say.
For example, I like ugly tools. The fewer bells and whistles a tool has, the more likely I am to trust it. For an ugly tool to be a good...
